The organization known as the Waterbury Deep Sea Fishing Club, Inc., was incorporated March 6, 1964. The club business was established as P.O. Box 2503, Waterbury, Connecticut, 06720. The club was founded to encourage youth fishing, sportsmanship, participation, conservation, opportinities for the membership to participate in the exchange of ideas and types of fishing they perfer, as well as create greater interest in the sport.
Throughout the years, members have run many and varied trips and tournaments all over the U.S. generally on the East Coast. During these years, the fishing sizes and limits have changed as the conditions and State Laws changed.
The tradition of the clubs annual Waterbury Deep Sea Fishing Club Clam Bake was started and continues to this day getting bigger and bigger each year. The menu has changed some over the years but it always included fish caught and donated by the members and of course clams.
