Get a form from a member and fill it out. You must be sponsored by a member. Attach the form signed by the sponsor and your check and mail to the P.O. Box listed on the site.
There is first an application fee of $20 for which you get a WDSFC hat, shirt, and bylaw book. $80/yr. dues entitles you to attend 3 meetings per year with food and drink in November, February, and April during which you can sign up for fishing trips (11 or more) sponsored by the trip chairmen. In addition, the club has an annually clam bake in August.
At this time, there are 15 trips that include fresh water trips to Lake Ontario for trout and salmon, salt water trips for striped bass, black fish, porgy (sea scup), black sea bass, fluke, haddock, pollack, and winter flounder trips.
The trips leave from Point Judith, RI., Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York.
You will meet other members that have boats and go fishing on their own. It is possible for you to hook up with one of them and fish.
Fishing trips are discussed at meetings and can be sponsored by any member. Trip Chairmen are financially rewarded to help with the cost of setting up the trips and making all the phone calls to the members, boat captains, bus company, and weather services.
